DESCRIPTION

Multiple Mural Installation
2023
A multi-mural project for Wesgroup Properties, for their new homes at Paradigm, in the bustling and developing neighborhood in the River District, Vancouver. Mega was commissioned to create three distinctive murals, each with its own objective and meaning. Located at the entrance to the pedestrian mews and shared garden space, bike lounge, and children's playroom. Working with natural and organic forms, each art piece took into account the surroundings in which it was placed, aiming to reflect the natural environment as well as the viewer. Designed over the span of a year and installed in October 2023, the murals welcomed in the new homeowners and infused lasting vibrancy into the community landscape.
PROCESS
The parkade mural utilizes gradation as a wayfinding tool, enticing and guiding viewers into the vibrant courtyard space. Throughout the design process, renderings and to-scale mockups played a pivotal role in refining the concept, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. Size: 63x11 ft. (464 sq ft)
BIKE LOUNGE
Blueprints, Rendered to Scale Pre-Installation
The brief: to create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for a tune-up and bike storage room in Paradigm. Mega created a concept that integrates nature, pavement, and mountains—forming an abstract, modern tribute to the rugged beauty of British Columbia's landscapes.
Mural Assistant: Christina Bowe
Bike Lounge, Mural 2, 26'x8' (170 sq ft)
KIDS PLAY ROOM
Wesgroup requested a whimsical woodland scene for the playroom. Mega used colour and animal figures to create a scene resembling BC’s forestry. (Above, iPad Sketch. Below, Installation)
